Open source petting zoo

Posted by

Are you interested in learning more about what open source can offer your students or the children in your family?

I’ll be setting up an “Open source petting zoo” at edcampARLINGTON — showing several different open source learning solutions.

I’ll be happy to answer any questions people have about Linux, LibreOffice, Inkscape, WordPress, Audacity, Scratch, Chromebooks and open source in general.

(And I’m there to learn from you, too.)  Here are a few recent explanatory videos of mine on YouTube.

My $20 eBay Laptop

Fedora 20 Linux on a Core2Duo Laptop

Playful Inkscape on a 2560 x 1440 monitor (Monoprice)

I’m hoping to have my Raspberry Pi 2 computer before edcampARLINGTON, but in case I don’t, do please bring your own  Raspberry Pi (or Raspberry Pi 2.)

I’ll have a nice 23-inch LCD monitor we can use to view that computer on.

For those who might be interested, here are my blog posts on Opensource.com.

And my blog posts on MAKE magazine are here.

Grateful thanks to all the organizers and sponsors of edcampARLINGTON, including Opensource.com.  I had a wonderful time attending last year and I’m going to have an even better time this year.
